Music is one of the common human behaviors that bind all peoples, regardless of time or culture. Mixes have come to exemplify things from healthy sexual attraction to psychotic emotional neediness, to  just simple sharing of great songs (or really bad ones). My mixes fall in between, a sort of  love/hate of humanity coupled with the inability to stop making mix tapes.

I am a sample junkie. I like the sounds of commercials, radio, TV, movies, speeches and interviews, because they offer rather focused glimpses into humanity which, when mixed with musical observations/reflections of life, make for an additional dimension to the experience. Plus there’s just something about Leonard Nimoy saying “I am not Herbert” that is just unparalleled and that you’d miss out on if maybe you didn’t see The Way to Eden episode of Star Trek.

I make mixes in Sound Forge XP 4.5, then export to MP3 with a Sony Sound Forge 8.0 update.

My mixes to date are:

  • Heavy Heeter – heavy, hardcore, thrash, etc. Tight, I like this one.
  • The Weightless Mix – a road play list of various stuff, tried and true songs and some new ones
  • Canis lupus familiaris – a dedication to the domestic dog!
  • The Second Gilded Age – heavy, hardcore, thrash, etc. A bit long and disorganized, but still worth it if you like loud things
  • My I-5 Drive – alternative, electronica, hip-hop, etc., new stuff, another tight mix that flows well, in my humble opinion
  • This Mortal Coil – no heavy tracks, a trek from birth to death, good front end, a tad slow on the back end
  • The Mix that was Forced to Go Undercover – Covers, covers, covers!
  • Apostasy - Heavy, hardcore, thrash that flows well in a tight package. If you like heavy music this one is one of my favorites.
  • Superfluitant Mix – Wide variety, to include bands like Branch Manager and  Bafing Kul, as well as Pat Benatar and Ted Nugent. Branch Manager has got to be one of the best band names ever.
  • Frilled Lizard Mix – Starts out loud and proud w/Saxon and Lemmy and runs all over from there.
  • With Might and  Main – Work mix from when I was crunching deadlines at 80 hours a week, like an idiot.
  • Staff of Life – A dedication to food!
  • Instrumental Magic – One of my favorites, all instrumentals covering everything from Duelling Banjos to Wang Chung to Benny Goodman.
  • Vociferous Convulsant – Heavy, hardcore, thrash, I think the name sums up this blistering audio assault.
  • The Annointed Mix - my first Radio Gen1us entry, a mix dedicated to songs of, for, and about Jesus Christ.

Thanks for listening! Let me know what you think.
